We were engaged on this project from the very beginning, tasked with the initial concept development and were to work directly with the chosen draftsperson. The stunning original double fronted Victorian home in Essendon, Melbourne adorned all the classic features you hope a home like this has retained. Huge proportioned rooms to the front of the house, traditional fret work on the front veranda and a welcoming grand wide hallway. This majestic beauty deserved to have a full makeover of its 1990's extension at the back that just wasn't doing the front part of the home justice. We were asked to dream up a beautiful home that would accommodate a growing family.

The brief was to design and create a stunning home that was not only beautiful but very functional and within budget.

With 3 small children the family were keen to ensure that the home could grow with their needs, they required the home to ebb and flow depending on the season and changes in how they used the home over time. At OJD we understand that large renovations like this are a huge investment and the changes made to these grand old homes need to be practical and stunning, but they deserve to have longevity, sustainability and timelessness considered at every decision. At OJD we are about doing it once, really well, using high quality items that don't break the budget. We work with the best tradespeople, people who we trust and have brilliant working relationships with. This particular project is still a few months away from being completed, but it's been such a pleasure to work with this family. I can't wait to show you the finished home soon.
